Today was awesome. We cut metal then did “hot work “– which in metal working terms means heating up the metal and hammering it. James and I did double hammering which is synchronized hammering – Mike heats up the metal while James hammers the spot and I come in right after him with my hammer. We do this like a dance – conscious of the other craftsman’s rhythm and movement with his tool and the metal taking shape.
Breakfast at City Line restaurant and did the interview with James.
This guy has lead a fascinating life – educated as a physicist then turned to art and has an encyclopedic knowledge of all things medieval armor. It’s unreal!
