I can’t believe we are already on our last production trip! This season really flew by and I am so thankful to all the talented craftspeople I got to visit with for gave me so many incredible experiences. Our last trip is no exception. Today, I am in the beautiful City of Syracuse New York and I’m thrilled to be working with David MacDonald, a master ceramist.
Even though we featured An incredible Potter in Season One, I have never had the opportunity to use the potter’s wheel before. Luckily David has a lot of experience teaching ceramic arts. He taught at Syracuse University for over 30 years. He makes it look so easy, but it is not!
As soon as David put his hands on mine, something clicked for me, and I understood exactly how much pressure to put on the clay to make it work. Once I got the hang of it, I found myself really enjoying the calming nature of the potter’s wheel.
